Joe Taylor

Owner, Lead Instructor, Head Coach

Joe is the Owner of Portland Baseball Club. Originally from the Seattle area, Joe attended Mt. Rainier HS and Tahoma HS. Joe played for Aaron Horrocks and the Horrocks Brewers as a 14 year old and played for Jim Sugarbaker and the Auburn Knights Baseball Club all through high school. At Mt. Rainier HS he played for Dave Cook and at Tahoma HS he played for Russ Hayden and Gail Meyers. Joe played shortstop and second base and pitched in high school. Joe played one season at Green River Community College in Auburn, WA before transfering to Lewis and Clark College in Portland.

At Lewis and Clark, Joe played for Jerry Gatto and Mick Ellett his sophomore year which was Jerry's 22nd and final year at LC. Reid Rainey and Chris Lewis took over the program and coached Joe his final two years. At LC, Joe led the team in appearances each year typically relieving in the Saturday double header and starting on the mound on Sundays. After graduating from Lewis & Clark College in 2004, Joe helped start NW Star Academy where he was the General Manager until 2008. With NW Star, Joe helped build the NW Baseball Coaches Convention, started 19U, 18U, and 14U teams, the Apple Cup Fall League, hosting multiple tournaments a year, and the day to day operations of the teams, scheduling, hiring and training coaches while conducting private lessons.

Portland Baseball Club was formed in November 2008. PBC allows Joe to provide more opportunities for young players to participate in baseball and exposure to cutting edge instruction and the best competition in the Northwest. The goal is to keep costs down to provide access to training for everyone. Joe is the lead instructor focusing primarily on our club teams and off season group classes and overseeing our arm care/velocity program which started in 2014. Joe also handles all the registrations, paperwork, accounting, and much more.

Logan Hatley

Camp & Lesson Instructor & Head Coach

Logan Haltey grew up in Dallas, Oregon. He graduated from Dallas HS in 2015 where he was a 2 time 1st team all state player. Logan pitched 2 years at Linn-Benton Community College for current OSU coach Ryan Gipson. He pitched at Oregon State from July 2017-December 2018 working with Nate Yeskie and then finished his career with 3 years at Western Oregon University. At WOU, he was a starting pitcher. He pitched in the WCL and was an all-star in 2019. Logan trained at Driveline for 2 months working with Eric Jeggars, Rob Hill, and Kyle Rodgers who are all now in professional baseball coaching.

Logan moved to Florida where he taught private lessons at DevX Player Development managing the pitching and lifting programs. He has experience working with Trackman, Rapsodo, and has been coached and worked alongside some legendary coaches.




Jordyn Van Atta

Director of High School Teams & 18U Head Coach

Jordyn played for PBC as a catcher/first baseman in the summer of 2012 catching on a team that finished 2nd at the Babe Ruth World Series. Jordyn played college ball at Lane CC, Clark CC, University of Texas Permian Basin, and Midland University. Jordyn played independent ball in the Mt. Rainer League, Desert League, and Empire League. He was the head coach at Sandy HS for three seasons.

Jordyn will oversee our 15U, 16U, 18U summer teams as well as be the head coach of our 18U team. Jordyn will assist with our off season training programs and help with camps and private lessons. Jordyn works with all the catchers in our program.




JR Diaz

Camp & Lesson Instructor

JR moved to Portland in 2015, he was born and raised in the Central Valley California. JR played at Lewis-Clark State College for legendary coach Ed Cheff winning back to back World Series titles in 1999 and 2000. JR has over 25 years coaching experience. Since coming to Portland JR has coached baseball and fastpitch softball for numerous organizations in some capacity. He’s coached and trained with MLB players and D1 coaches. He brings high energy and enthusiasm to his teams.

JR strives to bring out the best in his players specializing in catching, fielding and hitting. JR is the founder of Forge Softball.




Ryan Santhon

18U Pitching Coach & Lesson Instructor

Ryan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He went to Taft High School and played 4 years on varsity. Because of injuries, he attended Los Angeles Pierce College, leading the pitching staff for 2 years. Afterwards, Ryan attended California State University, Los Angeles. Started on Friday nights during his two years there. After that, he played 3 years of indy ball. Ryan has been coaching club and high school baseball for the last six years. Before moving to Oregon, he coached at Sierra Canyon High School and deToledo High School in Los Angeles and one year at Sandy High School.

Ryan's passion and competitiveness for the game has led him to coaching and he truly enjoys helping pitchers and hitters get better and gain the confidence needed to help their baseball journey continue.

Colin Brown

Camp & Lesson Instructor

Colin was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he was a four year varsity starter in high school as a two way player. He spent his years in college as a relief pitcher at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. Colin moved to Portland in the fall of 2022 to get his MSW from Pacific University. He is passionate about baseball and helping the next generation of players to be successful at the next level.

Some of his other passions include playing basketball, playing and watching soccer, and playing music.




Dominick Goad

Camp & Lesson Instructor

Born in Lancaster, CA, raised in McMinnville, OR. Dominick is not only a die hard New York Yankees fan, but passionate about baseball and excited to be apart of helping the sport grow. Dominick played baseball in McMinnville from 5th grade up to 2006. When Dominick is not working on super cars at 503 Motoring, he’s playing slow pitch softball or watching a Yankees game. Dominick’s favorite trend in baseball currently is the art of bat flip.
