2012 Portland Baseball Club Coaches

Brad Neffendorf - 18U Coach

Brad is the Director of 18U Baseball for PBC and will return as a coach in 2012. Brad took 2011 off to coach in the Valley Collegiate League in Virginia.

Brad is currently the Pitching Coach at Campbellsville University in Kentucky. He started there in 2011. He helped lead the Tigers to the 2011 MSC Conference Title and a berth to the NAIA Regional in Daytona Beach, Florida.  Neffendorf's pitching staff ranked in the top 25 all year long and as low as top 5 for overall ERA.

Brad previously was the head coach at Aloha High School, NW Star Academy, Portland Vandals, Mt. Hood CC, and Clackamas HS. He was also an associate scout with the Florida Marlins.

   

Joe Taylor - 18U Coach

Joe is the Owner of Portland Baseball Club and was the head coach of the 2011 team.

The 2011 team finished with a record of 43-13 and finished in 2nd place at the Babe Ruth World Series. They won the Babe Ruth State and Regional tournaments as well as the Curt Daniels Invitational.

Joe is the primary instructor with PBC and coached the PBC 14U team in 2009 and 2010.

 

   

Mick Ellett - 18U Coach

Mick enters his third year as pitching coach for Portland Baseball Club and is also currently the pitching coach at Clark College in Vancouver.

He is also the pitching coach at Clackamas CC where his 2008 team made the NWAACC playoffs. Mick has an extensive coaching background at the high school and collegiate levels. He was the head varsity coach at Barlow HS and David Douglas from 26 years before starting his collegiate coaching career. Mick was the pitching coach for 6 years at Lewis & Clark College and the pitching coach at Clackamas CC for 9 years. During the summers, Mick was the head coach of the Aloha Knights for 3 years and was the pitching coach for 2 years after that before starting the Portland Kings.

   

Brett Neffendorf - 18U Coach

Brett was the head coach of the Portland Baseball Club independent team in 2011 and returns in 2012 with the head job coaching the second 18U Babe Ruth team.

Brett has an extensive background in sports management and coaching with both high school and independent experience. He has coached Corvallis HS, Clackamas HS, and was the assistant head coach at Crescent Valley HS.

He has worked for Barton Football Academy running camps and marketing and is currently the baseball writer for Oregonpreps.com on the Rivals network.

   
  Jake Austin - 18U Coach
  Jake is entering his 6th year of coaching at various levels. He's coached at Centennial HS, Clackamas HS where he was an assistant coach for two state titles coaching Clackamas HS and PBC alumni Ben Wetzler, Corey Davis, Nick Struck, and Ben Parsons. He is an instructor at PBC, and is now an instructional assistant at Tigard HS and an assistant coach for Tigard HS's well respected Tom Campbell.  Jake played high school ball at Centennial HS and 2 years at Clackamas CC, where he was the every day 2nd baseman and All League as a sophomore. 
  Josh Orr - 18U Coach
 

Joshua is in his first year as a Portland Baseball Club assistant coach. Josh Graduated from Port Townsend High School in 2007 where he played four years of varsity football and baseball. As a prep, Josh pitched and played outfield during the summer for the  Wilder baseball program out of Port Angeles, Washington.

Joshua Signed with Lower Columbia College in Longview,WA out of High School. He was Red-shirted and transferred to Cerro Coso College in Southern California the following winter. After suffering a mid-season injury, Josh transferred to Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. Josh earned a 2010  first-team All-Southern Division team selection as a starting pitcher.  The Titans also finished second at the NWAACC Conference Tournament in 2010 behind the arm of Joshua Orr as the top left handed pitcher in Lane’s rotation. After completing his sophomore year of eligibility, Josh signed with The College of Idaho with both academic and athletic scholarships. 

Joshua is currently on track to graduate and finish his collegiate baseball career in May. Joshua hopes to continue his passion for Baseball by contributing at the High School or College level as an assistant coach. Between Joshua’s passion for game, desire to develop young athletes as positive contributors in life both on and off the field, and a strong knowledge in all aspects of the game, Joshua has a bright future ahead of him as a Baseball.
