18U Portland Baseball Club Classic

The first annual Portland Baseball Club Classic will be held July 9-12 with all games played at Clackamas Community College at 19600 Molalla Ave, Oregon City, OR. The tournament features 8 of the top teams from the Northwest. All games will be played 7 innings or 2 hour time limit with metal bats. In the event of a tie, up to 2 additional innings can be played. Speed up rules will apply and Portland Baseball Club will always be in the 3rd base dugout. More rules below.

• Metal bats conforming to high school and college specifications will be used for all tournament games.
• All games are to be played to a 2 hour time limit and are 7 inning games. If an inning is started before the time limit expires, that inning will be completed. No new inning will be start after 2 hours.
• For games ending in a tie, 2 additional innings will be played to make it a 9 inning game. If the game is tied after 9 innings, then the game ends a tie.
• A 10-run rule is in effect after 5 innings.
• The home and visiting teams are listed on the schedule. Portland Baseball Club will always be in the third base dugout. On Sunday, the home team will be determined by a coin toss from the tournament director in the presence of both head coaches.
• No pre-game infield practice is allowed for any game. The batting cages will be available for all teams.
• The gate will open 90 minutes before the first game of the day.
• All games will be played under National League rules with the American League designator hitter rule. Any of the nine starting players may withdraw and re-enter once provided such player occupies the same batting position whenever he is in the line-up.A substitute who is withdrawn may not re-enter, except for injury or ejection.
• Speed up rules will be applied and enforced by the umpires:
1) Each team will receive 1 minute between innings. Penalty: ball or strike for the batter.
2) 25 seconds between pitches. Penalty: ball or strike for the batter.
3) After each out, the ball will be returned immediately to the pitcher. Throwdowns
between innings will be allowed, but not after strike outs or putouts. Penalty: ball for the next batter.
4) Courtesy runners for catchers only mandatory with 2 outs.
• Decisions made by umpires on the field are final. No protests will be allowed.
• Tiebreaker for pool standings:
1) Win-Loss record
2) Fewest runs allowed
3) Most runs scored
4) Coin toss
• Portland Baseball Club strives to put on a first class event. The tournament director may disqualify any player, coach, or fan for the remainder of the tournament who displays
unsportsmanlike conduct or willfully violates tournament or field rules. Any coach or player ejected from a game must leave the field at that time and will be ineligible for the next game, unless overruled by the tournament director. If this individual does not leave the field, the team is subject to forfeiture.
