Congratulations to Greg Cero and the Mound Time 14s for winning the 1st annual Portland Baseball Club Classic. They defeated Black Hawks 4-2 in the championship game.
Tournament Rules:
• 7 innings or 2 hour time limit. No new inning will be started after 2 hours. Any inning that is started will be completed. No time limit for championship game.
• In the event of a tie, the game will proceed for 2 extra innings. If the game is still tied after the 2 extra innings, the game ends as a tie.
• Wood or composite woods bats will be used during all games.
• A 10 run rule is in effect after 5 innings.
• The home and visiting teams are listed on the schedule. Portland Baseball Club will always be in the third base dugout. The higher seed on Sunday will be the home team.
• No pregame infield is allowed for any game. Please take ground balls and fly balls in the outfield. There are 2 cages available at any time. Please share with other teams. Gate will open 1.5 hours before the first scheduled game.
• Team Uniforms - All players and coaches must be in like uniforms. All players must have numbers on their jersey. Coaches cannot wear shorts or jeans on the field. They must remain in the dugout if they are not in uniform.
• All games will be played under High School Rules. You must slide and avoid in all situations. We will use the American League Designated Hitter rule so you can DH for your pitcher only. Starters can re-enter once, substitutes can not. No pitching limits - coaches be responsible!
• Speed up rules will be applied and enforced by the umpires:
1) Each team will receive 1 minute between innings. Penalty: ball or strike for the batter.
2) 25 seconds between pitches. Penalty: ball or strike for the batter.
3) After each out, the ball will be returned immediately to the pitcher. Throwdowns between innings will be allowed, but not after strike outs or putouts. Penalty: ball for the next batter.
4) Courtesy runners for catchers only mandatory with 2 outs.
• Decisions made by umpires on the field are final. No protests will be allowed.
• Tiebreaker for pool standings:
1) Win-Loss record
2) Fewest runs allowed
3) Most runs scored
4) Head to Head (not used if still 3 way tie)
5) Coin flip
• Portland Baseball Club strives to put on a first class event. The tournament director may disqualify any player, coach, or fan for the remainder of the tournament who displays unsportsmanlike conduct or willfully violates tournament or field rules. Any coach or player ejected from a game must leave the field at that time and will be ineligible for the next game, unless overruled by the tournament director. If this individual does not leave the field, the team is subject to forfeiture.
