18U Hot Links Coaches
|
Portland Baseball Club was formed in 2008 to provide Portland area youth an opportunity to play baseball at the highest level possible while developing their own athletic abilities. Players have the chance to learn through private instruction, team practices, and high-caliber competition during the summer and fall. The 18U team was created to provide graduating seniors a place to play during the summer that will help them prepare for the college experience. The roster, schedule, and team philosophy parallel a college baseball atmosphere. The schedule includes practices and games. Weekend games are doubleheaders in general against teams from all over the Northwest. We play Babe Ruth, Connie Mack, PIL, WCL, and independent teams. Players come from all over Portland to play. Pitchers are put on a specific pitching routine to include game work, bullpen work, conditioning, and core strength training. Position players are provided with opportunities to grow their athletic abilities through pre-game workouts as well as individualized "early outs". As for team philosophy, players are required to promote themselves and the team with the highest integrity. From uniform appearance to how they enter and leave the ballpark, the team is professionally operated. Before nearly every non-tournament game, the team takes a professional style pregame batting practice on the field including hitting stations, fungo work, and skill work. Our mission is to prepare players for college baseball. We will do whatever we can to simulate the college baseball experience during the summer to prepate players for what their freshman year will be like.
