Portland Baseball Club 14U Coaching Staff

 
   

Joe Taylor

Head Coach

Joe Taylor started Portland Baseball Club and is the 2009 14U team head coach. He will also serve as an assistant on the 18U team.

Prior to starting Portland Baseball Club, Joe served as the General Manager of NW Star Academy. Roles included organizing their 3 summer teams at the 14U, 18U, and collegiate level, coordinating a 24 team fall baseball league, conducting camps and private instruction, and coordinating the Northwest Baseball Coaches Convention. Joe oversaw the team that won the 2008 Senior Babe Ruth World Series in Newark, Ohio.

Joe played for 3 years at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR where he was a pitcher and infielder. He graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors of Art degree in Communications and a minor in Political Science. While at Lewis & Clark, Joe was a key piece to the team as he led the team in pitching appearances all 3 years. Prior to Lewis & Clark College, Joe played 1 season at Green River CC in Auburn, WA. Joe attended Mt. Rainier HS in Des Moines, WA his freshman and sophomore years and graduated from Tahoma HS in Maple Valley, WA where he was an all league infielder as a junior and senior.

Growing up, Joe had lots of opportunity to play high caliber summer baseball while being trained year round by highly respected coaches. The ability to work with kids and develop their athletic abilities while teaching them life skills is what makes Portland Baseball Club unique. Joe is dedicated to providing the same opportunities for players from all over the Portland Metropolitan area.

 
   

Chris Webb

Assistant Coach

Chris joins Portland Baseball Club in 2009 as the 14U assistant coach.

Chris came to Portland from Perth, Australia in 2001 via a college scholarship to Lewis & Clark College where he was a 4 year starter at catcher. During his time at Lewis & Clark he proved to be a versatile utility player, starting at every position on the diamond except 2nd base.

Chris enjoyed a decorated junior career in Australia where he represented his state (Western Australia) at the 14U, 16U, and 18U Junior Nationals. He was also a squad member of the Australian Institute of Sports Junior National program.

Aside from his love of baseball, Chris has been the Fleet Manager at Canby Ford for the past 6 years and spends much of his free time on the golf course. Chris and his wife Carla reside in Tualatin.
